When it comes to keeping attention drawn to your company, products, and services, communication with your clients through email lists is a crucial and incredibly valuable element of any marketing technique. Your message won’t get across, however, if subscribers never open the email to begin with. Maximize your email outreach with just a few simple steps.

Generate Immediate Curiosity with a Grabbing Subject Line

The subject line–it’s the first thing a subscriber sees upon opening his or her inbox, so it’s important to get it right. By grabbing your reader’s attention right off the bat with a subject line that sparks curiosity, that subscriber will be more inclined to open your message and find out the information that was alluded to earlier on. Call your reader to action by revealing just the right amount of information about your message, taking care to include the most important information about the message’s news without actually revealing it outright. Be short, succinct, and concise and don’t forget to make your subject line as interesting and appropriately eye-grabbing as possible!

Write Your Email Copy Conversationally

Being in the industry that you’re in, you’re bound to have studied the emails sent out by competitors. What stands out to you? What types of emails do you find yourself opening and reading through completely? Identify your audience and write to the individual–not the faceless masses. Make your message personal by identifying the reader as “you.” Bring your subscriber into your company environment and make him or her feel like an important part of the company’s success–because they are! Establish a sense of trust and loyalty with your subscribers, and make an effort to appear as approachable and sincere as possible. Make your readers feel welcomed, serviced, and optimistic about all that your company has to offer. Add personality and enthusaism, and practice writing to develop your own unique voice.

Reward Your Email Readers

At the end of any email, try to offer your subscribers a reward for making it to the end of your message. This could be anything from a multimedia link, a giveaway, a free eBook or page from a written project, or even something as simple as a “Fun Fact of the Day.” By making your emails fun and unpredictable, your subscribers will look forward to future messages and updates about your company, products, and services. Someone has taken the time to subscribe to your email list, and that’s something to be respected. Make sure your subscribers feel that signing up for your list was the right decision! Readers that feel benefited by having your messages sent directly to their inbox will return to read what you have to say, so be sure to include a fun and unique element of surprise to the end of each correspondence with your readers.
